Oh yeah, the Worldwide Christmas Scrapbooking Freebies Blog train is stopping by my blog this year. My Sister made me do it! lol, no really, I am not a designer but my Sister told me to give it a try. So I thought after downloading tons of freebies over the years, maybe I could give back. I am not that good and a few of my elements may be too big but I think my papers came out nice. I chose traditional Christmas colors and elements. There are real pretty kits being shared in the blog train this year and my Sweet Sister is sharing a beautiful add on to her gorgeous Christmas Joy kit, which you can find on her blog here. A big thanks to Antoinette who organized it all for everyone to enjoy.

It's been so long

I know I haven't been to my blog in such a long time but I haven't really scrapped in all this time. I had a computer scare and realized that I have so much that I could of lost because I have not backed up in so long. So I have been organizing and backing up and not scrapping. But then I got this beautiful kit and just had to scrap with it. Oh I know, you may think my opinion is bias, since the designer is none other than my very talented Sister Patchas . But you really should just go and check out this beautiful kit "Dreaming Of Spring" and judge for yourself.

Back to school

I took Kelly back to school on Sunday to start her second semester of college. She was anxious about all her new classes but after going to classes yesterday she called me to tell me she really enjoyed them. I will have to wait and see what she says about the rest of them. Her schedule is quite different from last semester as she has a few evening classes. But on the two days she has evening classes she doesn't start until 11. I have 2 new layouts to show. I had finished them 2 weeks ago but have been putting off posting them. It just seems that there is not enough time in a day. The kit I used is Into The Wide Blue Yonder by Ambowife Designs. The pictures are of my son. I have been scanning my old pictures and using them to scrap. So that's it for now, thanks for stopping by.

Heat Wave

Lol, well not exactly a heat wave but it is 47 degree's here today. It's a nice break from the cold weather we have been having recently. Winter has never been my most favorite season of the year, but since I have gotten older, I really hate the cold weather. I am just so grateful that I don't have to go out in it everyday any more. I still remember going to work in zero degree weather. Getting off the ferry and having to walk 2 blocks to my job. By the time I crossed the street, I would be hurting from the cold. I would duck into the first building and walk thru their lobby just to get warmed up. Even though I had a scarf wrapped around my face (up to my eyes) and a hat pulled down covering my eyebrows, it still hurt. Believe me, I was a sight to see, lol. Thank goodness those days are behind me. Now I stay in my nice toasty house and if I have to go out I start my car from inside my house and wait for it to warm up. Anyway, My son got a new camera for Christmas, so I went to his house and took all the nice pictures of my granddaughters that he had taken on his recent trip to Pennsylvania. These pictures were perfect for the new kit I got, January 2010 Mega - Snow Games by The SAS-y Design Team. Well, thanks for stopping by and taking a look.

Well Merry Christmas everyone! I can't believe it is over. I just have been so busy shopping and wrapping. I haven't made my layouts. But finally here they are. I hope you all had a great Christmas, I so enjoyed watching my grandchildren open their gifts. It seems that they loved them all. My youngest granddaughter (she is 4) said this was the best Christmas ever! lol. Back to my layouts. The pictures I used was from Christmas eve and Christmas day. Oh yes tis the season... Is everyone in the Christmas spirit? This is my favorite time of the year. I just love driving around and looking at all the Christmas decorations. Especially at night seeing all the houses lit up. I remember when my kids were young I used to always drive around looking at the lights and there were always a few houses that were spectacular. I remember one in particular that we would have to get out of the car and walk around their house to see all that there was to see. There was always so many people there doing the same thing that we would either have to wait for a parking space or park a block or so away. The house was so lit up that you could see it from blocks away. OMG I can't imagine what their electric bill must of been. But it was beautiful. Christmas is less than 2 weeks away and I still have so much shopping to do. My daughter will be coming down to celebrate with us so it will be great that we will have the whole family together.
There are so many designers out there giving away their beautiful Christmas kits. I know of at least 5 Christmas blog trains. In fact SAS has a Christmas Carol blog hop. How was your Thanksgiving?

I had a wonderful Thanksgiving. Kelly and I went upstate to enjoy thanksgiving with my Daughter and her Husband. I only wish my Son and his family could of joined us, but my oldest granddaughter is deathly afraid of dogs and my daughter has 2 labs. But regardless, I did have a great time. The food was delicious and my daughter treated me like a queen. Her house is beautiful and the scenery is breathtaking. I have a few layouts to show, the first two are recent pictures and the kit I used is Autumn Dream by Lara's Digi World. The last layout you see is of my oldest daughter, taken in the early 80's. I finally got to scan some of my older pictures but I am so sorry I never dated them. The kit I used is Sweet Dream by Sweet Made. I think I am getting old

Lol, oh yeah, old age is setting in. I say this because I just have been so forgetful lately. I forgot my son in laws birthday. That was the worst, how could I forget his birthday? He has been my son in law for over 17 years and I have know him for over 24 years. But that is not all I have been forgetting. I forgot about a doctors appointment I had. But that I can understand, I made the appointment 3 months prior. But then I made 2 layouts and I forgot to post them, lol, what is going on? Really, its terrible, I go into the living room to turn off the recorder, but then I get there and forget why I came. I have to tell you though, my youngest daughter takes advantage of this. I will ask her why she didn't do something I told her to and she replies that I never told her and that I am just forgetful. Tomorrow is Halloween

Do you believe it? Halloween is tomorrow. Can you remember your days as a child? Trick or treating? I can! I can remember going from door to door, trick or treating and then going home to check out all the goodies. Oh what fun it was. Now it's my grandchildren doing the trick or treating and I am taking pictures. lol. We always made our own costumes, dressing up in old or baggy clothes, now I don't remember the last time I have seen a costume that is not store bought. I don't think they even made costumes for Halloween back then. Oh well, I am ready for the little trick or treater's to ring my bell. I have a bag full of candy which I know is way too much candy for the traffic I get here. My youngest daughter (she is 18 now) will be dressing up. She is going to go to the Halloween parade in the village. So for your treat today I have 2 new layouts to show. lol. They are Christmas layouts from years gone by. One layout has pictures from almost 37 years ago.... Wow!!! The kit I used is Christmas Story 1 by Sweet Made. Oh yeah, baby it's cold outside. Well not exactly freezing winter cold but it's really cold for mid October. We had back to back nor'easters and it was snowing in parts of New York. Oh, it's really too early for this. Today it was around 46 but with the wind chill it felt like it was in the 30's and the weatherman is predicting the first frost of the season tonight. Brrr.... Dreary Saturday

It's a dreary Saturday here in New York today. It's very cloudy but not too cold. It's about 65 right now but it is supposed to go up to 70. I am not complaining, my favorite times of the year is spring and fall. I like the nice cool weather. I enjoy opening my windows and letting the nice fresh air in. It used to be that summertime was my favorite time of the year. But now that I have gotten older, I can't stand the heat. So for this dreary Saturday I have two new layouts that brighten my day. I can't wait for Monday morning

I know that sounds so weird, who can't wait for Monday. Well, Saturday night I woke up at 5:30 in the morning with an excruciating tooth ache. I didn't know what to do with myself. It was throbbing and it felt like I was hit with a bat right beside my ear. Actually my tooth started bothering me on Friday. But my dentist is closed on Friday. The pain was bearable so I figured I could make it until Monday. Anyway, I was finally able to fall back asleep and when I woke it was sore but with the help of advil I have been able to stand it. Kelly didn't come home this weekend as she said she had tons of homework. But then today she called to tell me she was sick to her stomach and that she woke in the middle of the night to throw up in her dorm room. So it was a bad weekend for both of us. But I will get up tomorrow morning and call the dentist first thing and hope that he will be able to see me. I have 2 new layouts to show today. Wow! Can you believe it? September is gone and another birthday has passed. Time is flying and it will soon be Halloween, Thanksgiving and then Christmas. I better hurry and get out those Christmas cards. I am always sending them out the last minute. Yep, its time to start thinking about Christmas shopping. Who is in charge of time anyway? Two days ago it was my birthday, and what a nice birthday I had. Kelly came home from college. She ran to the bus stop after her last class of the day. She wanted to be here to celebrate my birthday but didn't get here until around 7pm. It was nice that my Son and his family didn't mind waiting. My Daughter in law and Son took me out to dinner. My DIL suggest that I go someplace new, so they took me to Harolds NY (which just happens to be in Jersey). OMG the place was unbelievable. They served so much food, that one order would of fed us all. I ordered the grilled chicken with sauteed veggies and melted meunster cheese. It was soooo good, but I couldn't even finish 1/4 of it. Of course I took some pictures and hopefully will make a few layouts with them. Oh, and speaking of layouts I have a few to show you. I really like the pictures in the gone buggy one, the dragonfly looks like it is smiling. lol. Anyway, here they are.

A new scrap

When I saw this picture of my granddaughter I just had to scrap it. It so reminds me of many years ago when her father was a little boy. I was talking on the phone and my son was in the kitchen with me. I had my back to him as I was trying to hear what was being said to me. My son started saying mom look. You know how kids are, they always have something to show or say to you when you are on the phone. When I didn't respond to my son, he kept saying mom look. So finally I turned to look and there he was, with a pair of lock pliers hanging from his lip and looking as proud as he could be. lol. So when I saw this picture, it brought back this memory and I thought to myself, like father, like daughter. lol. Anyway the kit I used is Juicy Fruit by Sweet Made. Thanks for stopping by.

Off to college

Now it's official, my little girl is in college. Move in date was this past Saturday and oh what a day it was. Her scheduled move in time was 1:30 but when I had called they said we could come earlier. So with my CRV packed to the max we left about 9:45. When we got there, the line of cars wrapped around 6 blocks. It took us almost 2 hours once we got in line. When we got there we were only allowed to unload the car and then go park the car somewhere else. It was so hot and we found out that her dorm does not have air conditioning. After we got everything up to her room we walked 7 blocks to get her a fan. It was so hot that my face was dripping and it was beet red. But we got her unpacked and made up her bed. It was very hard for me to say goodbye. I know how silly that is as she will be coming back home, but non the less it was very emotional for me. Oh yeah, it's 5 days and then my youngest will be off to dorm. She has been counting down since the beginning of the month. She is just so excited! Me? Well I am not sure how I am feeling. I think that because it was a last minute decision and the fact that she will only be an hour away, that it is just not real to me yet. But I guess I will find out soon enough. New Adventures

Well here we are the beginning of August. At the end of the month my youngest will be off to college. She is going to board, so it is a new adventure for her. But it will also be a new adventure for me also as I have never lived alone in my entire life. Also for my entire adult life I have had children to take care of. Its not like my responsibility has ended but it sure will be different. I know its been awhile since I have been here to post new layouts but I really have been busy with a lot of different things. But also I just haven't been motivated to scrap. I don't know if its because I need new pictures or what it is. But I do have 2 new layouts to show. I am using my older pictures that I recently scanned. For these 2 layouts I used the kit A New Beginning (how appropriate for whats happening in my life) by Cathy C of Stone Accents Studio.

I have been busy scanning old pictures so I can scrap them. It's just a pain because it is just so time consuming. But I was able to scan 2 albums. The quality of the pictures though are not that great, but I guess, what should I expect from 30 + years ago. I wanted to get some pictures of my son as I don't have that many layouts of him. So using the kit Nothin Sweet by mITSYBELLE I made these next two layouts. Isn't he just so sweet, lol.

Prom!!

Well Prom has come and gone. What a big deal, with shopping for the dress, then the shoes and then last minute accessories. Finally the day arrived, we had a hair appointment at 11 o'clock that morning. We went to a hair salon we had never gone to before, Christopher Michael Salon on Forest Avenue. We got a wonderful stylist, his name was Doug. He knew exactly how to do her hair and it really came out nice. After he was done with her hair, it was time for make-up. We had to wait a little bit, but that was fine as they had coffee and bagels... ummm nice. I am sorry I can't remember the girls name who did her make-up but she did a great job. Kelly looked just beautiful. Then we went to another area and she had her nails done. Now she was perfect, from head to toe. By the time we got out of there it was already after 3. When we got home it was already going on 4 and she was supposed to be at Alex's house at 5. So she quickly got dressed and called Danny to come over to take some pictures. Dan and his Mom came over and I started clicking away. I made Kelly make a grand entrance and Danny had a big smile on his face. Then my Son Danny came with the kids because he wanted to see his little Sister on her big day. After taking pictures in the back yard, front yard and in the house it was time to go. We went to Alex's house where I took a few more pictures, lol. The Limo came at 6 (some more pictures) and off they went. The Prom was held at the Vanderbilt which is right off the boardwalk in South Beach. After Prom, they went to a comedy club and then to a lounge for more music and chillin. The next day she told me all about it and told me she had a wonderful time. So these two layouts I had to make out of some of the pictures I took. The kit I used is My Summer Love by Lynn Griffin. Lots of stuff

Right now so much is going on. I am in the process of getting some work done on my house. I had new basement windows put in and some new doors put on my house. Well actually he is not finished yet, only one door is in and he still has to finish off the inside of the windows. I am also having my front and back yard worked on. I had 2 fir trees and an azalea bush in my front, but the tree have gotten too big and the inside of the azalea bush is dead. So I am getting something new for the front. In my back yard I had a pool. I took it down the summer before last so I have to do something where the pool was and also have to fix the deck and take off the part where it extended into the pool. I was also thinking about enclosing my back porch and making it an 3 season room. So like I said, I have lots going on here. Kelly fininally got her shoes for the prom so I think we are set to go for wednesday. In the meantime I have 2 new layouts to show. Just some layouts from her graduation. Graduation

Its been a very busy week here. We had graduation mass on thursday, and graduation on friday. But we started off the week with no graduation dress. Well, actually we did have a dress, and it was a very pretty dress but it was a size too small. Oh it fit her but the inside of the dress was clingy and it did not look good on her at all. I have to tell you that it is very hard finding an all white dress, which is what was required by the school. We finally did find one but I was not all that thrilled with it. On thursday I curled her hair and truthfully I liked the way it came out. Friday was a disaster. It rained all day. We went to get her hair done at the beauty parlor, but by the time graduation came around her hair was no more curled then when I did it. The graduation itself was supposed to be outdoors, but because of the rain it was held inside the school. There were 100 in her graduation class and I was really impressed to learn that every single one of them is going to college. I was disappointed that they did not throw their graduation caps in the air when the cermony was over. I really did want to get a picture of that. But when I asked, my daughter told me that the school is too refined to do that. But thank goodness it is all over. Now we just got the prom to get through. That is next wednesday. I had never heard of a prom being held after graduation, but oh well. In my first layout below, the pictures were taken on thursday, the graduation mass, but I liked the way they came out. Oh you may think I am prejudice, as Patchas is my sister. But honestly she is just so talented. She just makes the prettiest layouts. I don't think I have ever seen one of her layouts that I didn't love. She has recently tried her hand at designing and she has blown me away. It looks as though she has been designing for years. This month she was the guest designer for the free monthly RAKscrap mega kit . Her portion of the kit is on page 2. I think you should check out her blog. If you look at her older post you will see she has a few kits that she has given away and if you haven't gotten them already I believe her links are still active. Afternoon at the ER

This morning my daughter in law called me to tell me that my son had gone to the emergency room. He started feeling sick Friday night and slept all day yesterday. He had fevers as high as 103. She told me that he thought he might have pneumonia as he felt the same pain in his back when he coughed that he had felt when he had pneumonia previously. She had wanted to go with him to the ER but he said he didn't want her to go and be exposed to whatever and then bring it home to the kids. So I went down to stay with him. It turned out after 5 hours, that he doesn't have pneumonia, (thank goodness) but he has to follow up with his doctor regarding his low oxygen levels. After he got home, my granddaughter came in from playing saying she didn't feel well and she now has whatever is going around. I am crossing my fingers that I don't get whatever it is. Memorial day weekend

Ah, Memorial day. Get out the barbecues, put on a hot dog. For many of us Memorial day signifies the beginning of summer. But Memorial day used to be a solemn day of mourning, a day of remembrance to honor those who paid the ultimate price for our freedom. So today, I just wanted to say that I have not forgotten. No more kittens, no more flu

Oh yeah, as they say, life is good if you don't weaken. My daughter went back to school on thursday and now she only has 3 days of school left. Then the next week she takes her finals and if all goes well she will graduate on June 5th. Wow.... unbelieveable!! Oh and the kittens? Well there was a girl in Kelly's school that volunteers for an animal rescue center. She took the four kittens and found homes for them all. I was so happy. In fact there was one family that took two kittens, so they have each other. So I have a happy ending to that story, lol. Other than that all is quite. I am enjoying the spring weather here and getting my back yard cleaned up little by little. I have 3 new layouts to show and I hope you enjoy them.

Swine flu and kittens update

I think my youngest daughter has swine flu. She got sick on thursday with all the symptoms of swine flu (I looked it up on the internet). I took her to the doctors on Friday and she was tested for the flu and strep throat. Strep throat came out negitive but the test for the flue was positive. The doctor told me that the flu season was over and she was going to test her for swine flu and she went to get the testing kit from the lab. But then she came back and told me that in New York they were not testing for swine flu any longer unless the patient was very sick in the hospital. She said the reason was "the flu is the flu" and the treatment is the same. So we got a prescription for Tamiflu and that is what she is taking. She is feeling a little bit better today, her fever has gone down. She now only has 100.7. The only concern I have is that the doctor said for her to stay out of school until next thursday. She is a senior, and these are her last days of school, her finals are the week after next.
Ok, about the kittens... They are still here romping about. The good news is that the kitten we had thought was missing an eye, is not missing an eye. It was really only a very bad infection. I have been putting medication in his eye twice a day and it is almost looking normal. I am happy for that. But truthfully I can't wait to get them out of this house. Kelly is waiting to talk to a girl from school who told her that she has a place we can take them that will find good homes for them.

Oh yes, four little kitties. My youngest daughter was talking a walk when she came across some abandoned kittens under a car on the service road. Since it is a very busy road she called me so we could bring them to petsmart to be adopted. It turns out that petsmart wouldn't take them and it was too late to take them to a shelter. It looked like one of the kittens was missing an eye. I just can't imagine who would do something like this. If they didn't want the kittens, why not just take them to a shelter? I still have the kittens, they have a cold now and if I brought them to the shelter they would put them to sleep. So I am nursing them back to health and trying to find homes for them. Yes I had to turn the air conditioning on again today. It was in the low 90's, but thankfully it is supposed to be cooler tomorrow. But its also supposed to rain tomorrow. Oh well, at least I don't have anywhere to go tomorrow. Although Kelly did mention she wants to start looking at prom dresses. So I have 2 new layouts to show. What happened to Spring?

You know, my most favorite time of the year is Spring. It's when the temperature is just right, not too hot and not too cold. It's when the flowers start to bloom and I can open up my windows and let the fresh air circulate through the house. Well, I think we had 3 or at the most 5 of those days and now for the last two days it has been in the high 80's. For crying out loud, I had to put my air on last night and it is still on. Anyway. I have 2 new layouts to show you. I have been using my older pictures that I had scanned a few weeks ago. I sill have a lot more scanning to do. The kit I used is Ruff ND Pretty by Sweet Made. Spring has arrived (I think)

Oh we have had three beautiful spring days. Today is not as warm as yesterday and friday but it is nice all the same. The windows are open and nice fresh air is circulating through my house. This past Wednesday we went to FIT for the admitted students day. We had to be there by 10 but of course we were there before 9. So we stopped in a little resturant and had breakfast first. We still got there by 9:45. They had some refreshments but of course we already ate. So we just mingled until it was time to start. At first the guy from admission spoke to us and congratulated everyone there. He said there had been about 18,000 applicants but they only accepted 150 for each major. He said they are very selective so everyone in the room should be applauded. After listening to various departments, some of the students spoke and then they took us on a tour. After it was all over, we went to the campus bookstore and Kelly got some FIT stuff. It was a nice day but we didn't get home until after 4 and I just hurt all over. Kelly is just so excited and can't wait to start. So I have a few new layouts to show, they are not all that great but I did scrap last wednesdays adventure. Thanks for looking.

Last Monday I found out that my Sister-in-law passed away. It was very unexpected, she had a heart attack. She was much more that a Sister-in-law, she was my very dear friend. In the 7o's we were on a bowling team together. Every year we went Christmas shopping together and every Saturday night she came over my house. We would either go out to eat or we would order in. We would watch a movie and chat. We never ran out of things to talk about. She was my sounding board when I was upset about something and was always there to help out in a pinch. She was everyones favorite Aunt and she will be missed greatly. In these two layouts, I again have some older pictures of my youngest daughter, from 1993, when we visited with my Sister in New Mexico. The kit I used is Sentiments by Ashalee Wall.

I dug up some older pictures, scanned them and scrapped. The first layout is a picture of my old co-workers. We all worked in the FAST department. That stands for fast automated securities transfer. At one time or another we all were supervisors of that department. They are a great bunch of guys. This picture was taken in 2002 after Ray had left the company and was moving to Florida. Out of all of us only Larry still works there. Sadly Ray passed away and I have lost touch with George. Nick was my lunch buddy for over 20 years and I still see him every now and then. For my second layout I have some pictures of my youngest daughter and her friend Bryan from 1997. It was a fun day of picnicking and playing in Clove Lakes Park. Yesterday was my sons 37th birthday, wow where does the time go? To celebrate we all went to Henny's steak house which has just recently reopened. The food was good but just a little expensive for my taste. Nothing else exciting going on in my neck of the woods. It's starting to warm up a little but its not spring weather yet. Oh yeah, I am feeling alot better now, still not 100% but much better than I was. My daughter still hasn't made up her mind as to which college she is going to go to, but she is still leaning towards FIT. The CUNY campus we visited was really very pretty. I did get a few pictures and did a layout with them. I would of taken more pictures of the campus but as luck would have it, my batteries were low and I forgot my extra set. Hurt so bad

Oh yeah, I am really so out of shape. Yesterday I took my daughter to one of the colleges she was accepted into. The college was way uptown and we had to take the subway once we got into the city. The college was only three block from the subway but it was up a big hill. By the time I reached the top of the hill, my heart was really pounding and at my age, I was just hoping I wouldn't have a heart attack. The campus was humunous and the tour we had took well over an hour. To tell the truth I couldn't keep up with the group. lol. Well needless to say, I don't know how I even made it home. My feet hurt so bad and today not only does my feet hurt but everything from the knees up to my neck are killing me, especially my thighs. But on a lighter note, I have some new layouts to show. The first two are of my bf's new granddaughter, she was born on February 26th.

You know the old saying... In like a lion, out like a lamb. Well if I were to listen to our weatherman we are supposed to be getting 6 inches of snow tomorrow, so it is supposed to be in like a lion. But you know how that goes. Maybe we will get some flurries but maybe we will really get some accumulations. But either way, it really doesn't matter to me. lol. If it does snow alot I will enjoy looking at it through my window. Oh how great this is... I had a nice Saturday, I went to a jewelery party around 11:30 and came back around 2:30, I finished my second layout in the afternoon and then my sister in law came over. We had some Chinese food and then my son, daughter in law and grand kids came over. We all had a nice little visit and then my youngest daughter came home with her boyfriend. We all talked and laughed for awhile and then my SIL and I watched Journey to the center of the earth. So all in all it was a really nice day. Switching it up

The thing that takes me the longest when doing a layout is choosing what picture or pictures to use. That is, when I have a specific kit to work with. I mean I have tons of photo's (that haven't been scanned yet) but I always look at what is already on my computer. So this week when I was looking through my pictures I came across these really old photo's of my grandmother and aunt. I had gotten these pictures after my aunt had passed away and when my sister was here visiting, she scanned them. The first photo is of my grandmother when she was a young girl. She was really a beautiful girl and look at the dress she is wearing. It must have been taken in either the late 1800's or very early 1900's as my father was born in 1917 and he wasn't her first child. For my second layout I choose 2 pictures of my aunt betty. It looks like she was a toddler in these pictures. Look at her hair. She is beautiful. I wish the pictures were in color as she was a redhead and I would of loved to see what it looked like when she was this young. The kit I used for these two layouts is the February 2009 Oriental Cherry Blossoms Mega by the SAS-y Design Team. So other than that, it's still kind of chilly here, and my youngest daughter told me today thats it's 100 days until graduation day.

Oh yeah, just when I was thinking that maybe we would have an early spring, we got a blast of arctic air. It was really cold today. Well much colder than it has been. It was in the low teens. I had to go out and do a little shopping and from just bringing the packages from the car to the house my hands hurt from being so cold. I am really getting spoiled, I can't take this cold weather anymore. Thankfully it will warm up tomorrow but it said on the news tonight that we are going to get snow on Sunday. Oh yes it does. Here we are mid February, already over a month and a half into this year. Now that I am retired I don't want time to go so quickly. I am just enjoying everyday too much. I don't care what the weather is like outside, because if I don't want to, I don't have to go out in it. But even though I don't want the time to pass, and I don't care what the weather is, I can't wait for the spring. I can't wait to open my windows and let the beautiful spring air in. I think I am so aware of how quickly time is passing because I am scrapbooking. I look at these old pictures and wonder where the time has gone. Like in my first layout titled Kindergarten, these are pictures of my youngest daughter on her first day of kindergarten. Now she is in her senior year of high school. But I remember this day as if it was yesterday, not 12 years ago. I was always taking pictures and now I am so glad I was able to capture the moment. I remember going into her kindergarten class and taking these pictures, lol, I was the only parent crazy enough to do this. I got married very young, right out of high school. By the time I was 21, I had 2 children. So I thought for sure that I would be a young grandmother. But that was not to be. Instead I got granddogs. Below you will see them. The first layout is of Bosco and Daisy, they are my oldest daughters dogs, the next layout is of Harley, he is my sons dog. Today the Catholic Church recognizes at least 3 different saints named Valentine, all of whom were martyred. Well, one legend contends that Valentine was a priest who serverd during the third century in Rome. When Emperor Claudius II decided that single men made better soldiers then those with wives and families, he outlawed marriage for young men. Valentine, realizing the injustice of the decree, defied Claudius and continued to perform marriages for young lovers in secret. When this was discovered, Claudius ordered that he be put to death. Wow, I can't believe it, I am finally finished with college applications. The last portfolio was sent out this week. Now we just have to wait for the rest of the responses. My daughter is 90% sure that she will choose one of the colleges that we have already received an acceptance letter for, but this is a big decision and she wants to be sure she is making the right one. Groundhog day tomorrow

Can you believe it's February already? Well tomorrow is groundhog day. Folklore says that if a groundhog emerges from his burrow and fails to see his shadow, winter will soon end. On the other hand, if it is sunny and he sees his shadow, there will be six more weeks of winter. Here in Staten Island we have our famous groundhog Chuck, and tomorrow we will have our Mayor, City Council Speaker, Congressman and other bigwigs here at the Staten Island Zoo for the extravaganza. Doors open at 7 and the cermony begins at 7:30. I will be turning over in my bed at that time, lol. But I am hoping that he doesn't see his shadow and we have an early spring. So I have 2 more layouts to show. For this first layout, that's me when I was only 8. The second layout is of my youngest daughter and oldest granddaughter. I have been scrapping some of my older pictures lately. I have been scanning a little at a time so I can get them scrapped. For some of the older ones, I have to do a little repair work in photoshop to take out any blemishes on the picture itself. For these two layouts I used the kit Vintage Valentine by Sweet-Made. Also for my brothers and sisters layout I tried a new effect on the pictures. I was very pleased with the results. Well, thats all for now, see you around the next time.

Oh yes, I have 2 more layouts to share and I really liked they way they turned out. You may have noticed (or not) that I have been trying to put a little more journaling in my layouts. I love how journaling completes the layout but it slows me down a little as I never know what to write. Well we are almost at the end of January. My daughters midterms started today. She has midterms all next week. I told her that she doesn't even have 5 months left before graduation. Wow, it really is so hard to believe. Anyway, back to my layouts. Ok, so its been a few days since I uploaded any new layouts. Well I did do a few that I haven't posted because truthfully it does take up a lot of time to post these layouts. Yep, that's me, just rolling along, making new layouts. For these two layouts I used this oooh so pretty kit 'Tis the Season by Sweet-Made. We had a little snow here but it wasn't too bad as it was very fine. It was so easy to shovel as it was like picking up powder. The only thing is that its cold out. Well cold for me, its about 18 degree's outside. Cold enough to make my hands hurt when I went out to shovel. Well I am off to post these layouts. Talk to you soon.

Am I on a roll or what. I can't believe it, I have four more layouts to show. The first two layouts (the ones on the bottom) are some pictures of my Son when he was just a little boy. I wasn't sure how they would come out as the pictures are old. He is 36 now and the camera wasn't a very good one. But after scanning them I played with them a little in photoshop to lighten them up a bit. The kit I used for those two layouts was Kids At Play by Ellen Massey of Stone Accents Studio This was a fun kit to work with and just great for little boy pictures. For the two top layouts I used some old family photos, In the top layout, the pictures were taken at my oldest daughters wedding. No No, not another blog train. I just meant that I am back on track in scrapbooking. I didn't make not one layout in the month of December. I just felt so bad not fulfilling my duties as a CT member. I am so grateful that everyone was so understanding. So now I am trying to do some catch up. Not that I have to, but it only seems right. So for your viewing pleasure, I have 4 new layouts to show. For the two Christmas layouts, starring my beautiful granddaughter's I used the kit Happy Ho Ho by Mamrotka of Stone Accents Studio. For my other two layouts, starring my two beautiful daughters I used the kit For Little Girls - Sugar & Spice by mITSYBELLE also of Stone Accents Studio. So yes, I am back and hopefully can stay on track. I still am busy with my daughter's college applications. Well not exactly the applications but the requirements for her art portfolio. Every college wants something different and they are not specific on their instructions online. So I have been calling the colleges and trying to get to the right people who know the answers and let me tell you this is no easy task. I can't tell you the countless hours I have already spent on the phone. I just can't wait for all this to be over. Oh but the good news is., is that we have already received three letters of acceptance. One being her number one pick. So even though we were accepted into her number one, she just wants to be certain that it is the best choice. Well enough chit chat for now, I am off to upload these layouts. Thanks for looking.

Oh yes, as I sit here in front of my brand new HP all in one touch screen computer doing what I truely enjoy, I say Isn't life just wonderful. Sometimes I just enjoy seeing my screensaver come up and displaying my layouts, lol. I still have alot of transfering from my old computer but a little at a time. Maybe this will help me organize everything I have. I do have 2 new layouts to show. The kit I used for these layouts is Snow Princess by Cathy Cher of Stone Accents Studio. It was really a pretty kit to work with. The pictures I used were from Christmas Eve at my youngest daughters boyfriends house. I thought it was so nice that his parents invited us. They had so much delicious food and appetizers, its just making me hungry thinking about it. They not only invited me and my youngest daughter but also my older daughter and her husband. We all had a wonderful time.

I can't believe we are in 2009 already. Boy time really does fly. Well it does for me, in fact time is flying by too quickly for my likes. I had a very nice Christmas, my oldest daughter came down and I had my family all together, even if it was only for a few days. My youngest daughters boyfriends parents invited me for Christmas eve and New Years eve. I just think that it was so nice of them. They are really nice people. I know I haven't been here for quite awhile but things just have been too hectic. College applications, visiting colleges, babysitting, Christmas shopping, wrapping, visiting with family and New Years, just to name a few. Hopefully things will quiet down a little, just the way I like it. I still have a little more to do with college preparations, like meetings with the college advisor but then it will be a sit and wait game. I just can't wait till all this is over and done with. I have been neglecting my scrapbooking but hopefully I can get back on track now. I have 2 new layouts to show, I used the November 2008 "Winter Wonderland" Mega Kit made by the very talented designers of Stone Accents Studio.

Ok, let me start off by telling all of you that I am not a designer, I am just a simple scrapper. I have never made a kit in my life. I have made quick pages before, but that is the extent of my experience. My sweet sister (patchas) told me about this blog train that DigitalArts-Cafe was hosting. She told me that they were looking for participants and you didn't have to be a designer to join. She said I could just make quick pages from a kit that they would supply. She said come on, lets do it, it will be fun. So I decided to join and make some quick pages. Then after I joined she told me that she was going to try to make a kit. So I decided to play around in Photoshop a little and see if maybe I could also make some papers. Anyway to make a long story short, I ended up making this kit, which I named mish mosh, because thats what it is, a little bit of this and a little bit of that. If you decide to download, maybe you could use one of my papers or a flower as it should match the other kits available in this blog train. I had fun doing this and I learned by the many mistakes that I made. My Sister was always there for me though, just on the other side of my computer to help me with any questions I had. You really have to check out her blog (link above) to see her kit. I haven't seen it yet as she wants it to be a surprise. But I know it will be beautiful as she is just so talented. I know I probably did something wrong, either in uploading or something. So if you find any problems, please let me know and I will fix it .

Bad day

My poor daughter had a car accident today. A car went through a red light hit her car, pushed her into another car and then took off. A witness got the first 3 letters of the license plate but that just isn't enough. I could go on and say how terrible it is but I just thank God that no one was hurt. I have 2 more layouts to show. The Wedding

I have a little story behind my next 2 layouts. Two weeks ago, my daughter-in-laws cousin got married. She had asked my daughter in law as well as my 2 granddaughters to be in the wedding party. My granddaughters would be the flower girls. My daughter in law was a little skeptical as my youngest granddaughter is only 3 and she just couldn't see her walking down the isle like a good little girl. She mentioned this to her cousin, but her cousin said oh she will be fine. Then they went to their first fitting. At the fitting my daughter asked her if she was going to walk down the isle like a little princess. She told her mom, no, I am going to walk like a monkey and proceeded to demonstrate how she would walk along with the monkey sounds she would make. lol. So needless to say, my daughter in law talked her cousin out of having her as a flower girl. Then to top it all off, the night of the rehearsal dinner, my daughter in law called me and said can I please bring the girls over? Because she said my little monkey girl was spitting (actually she was doing raspberries, but of course she was spraying as she did them) and my older granddaughter was trying to make her behave which of course just made matters worst and my daughter in law said they just weren't being good listeners. Anyway, the layouts are of my beautiful little princess flower girl and my beautiful little monkey girl on the day of the wedding. The kit I used is Thankful by Skrapper Digitals.

Busy Week

Busy week for me that is! On Monday night my Son called and asked me to sit with the kids, as his father in law was at the emergency room. So I was at my Sons house till 2 in the morning. Then on Tuesday, I had to go to a wake. My Son-in-laws Aunt passed away. That was so sad, she was young. Then on Wednesday night, I went to dinner with my old co-workers. I had a nice dinner and a good time. There was about 12 of us there. We meet for dinner every 2 to 3 months. My first supervisor at my job and now my friend usually calls everyone. Whoever comes, comes and we always have a nice time. Then Friday was halloween. So around 3:30 I went to my grandchildrens daycare and went trick or treating with them. My oldest Granddaughter was a princess. No surprise there. She is a girly girl and just loves all the princesses. My youngest granddaughter was Dorothy from the wizard of oz. She had on the blue checkered dress with a basket with toto (the dog) in it. But what really made her costume was the braided wig she wore. She was just too cute. Then of Saturday I went to my friend Nicks house for dinner. That was an adventure in itself as I had never been to his house before. Thank goodness for my GPS. I really had a nice time. We had a very nice dinner and Nick, Linda and myself sat at the table talking about everything and anything. Nick showed me his magic tricks he does for his shows. I love seeing magic. So here I am back to Sunday, nice and quiet. Kelly just had her friend over and they played video games and I finished my second layout with Visions of Sugarplums by Sweet Made. A couple of more pages for the book I am making of my youngest daughter.

This is the hard part. I love scrapping and I love being on creative teams but then I have to post. Posting my layouts on my blog is the hardest, because I never know what to write to nobody who reads my blog. lol. Yes isn't it ironic. I don't know what to say to nobody. I know I shouldn't care. I should just post the layouts and not say anything. But that just doesn't feel right. Oh I know that my Sister looks at my blog on occasion but she doesn't count cause she is my Sis. So anyway I put it off. Then I know I have to post this layout I finished almost a week ago. So here I am sitting in front of my computer thinking to myself, what am I going to write. What is exciting that I can say? Well nothing exciting here. I can say that its almost the end of October or that Thanksgiving is coming, but everyone who doesn't read my blog knows that already. So I sit here blank. Then I turn on some music and I sit here listening to a new song (to me) that I heard my daughter playing over and over. I really liked the song and asked my daughter to give it to me. The song is I'm Yours by Jason Mraz. Anyway I sit here, listening and I think to myself, how lucky I am. To sit here, at 2 in the afternoon, in front on my computer listening to a song I really like and feeling good. How lucky I am to be able to do what I like when I want. So nobody, I don't have anything exciting to tell you but actually thats the way I like it. Life is good! So thats my story and I'm sticking to it, lol. Here are my week old layouts. I just can't decide

I was driving down the street last week and just happened to look out the drivers side window. I was passing clove lakes park at the time. It just so happened that at that moment I was passing a path into the park. I thought to myself that it would make a beautiful picture. So a few days later I took my daughter there to take some pictures. I have to tell you that she wasn't as enthusiastic as I was. lol. When I saw the October SAS Monthly Mega 'Gathering Leaves', I knew that these pictures would be perfect for this kit. I made one layout from it, and saved it, but then I started fooling with it and came up with the second one. Now I don't know which one I like better. So I am posting both of them and please someone tell me which one looks better. For the second layout I used pictures I took this past Saturday when I took my grandchildren to a garden center that they had made into a Halloween playground. They had those blowup things that the kids can jump in and other fun stuff for them to do. I went with my girlfriend, her grandson and her grandsons cousin. Afterwards we took them to McDonald's. They really had a good time.

I told you my Sister was here for a 10 day visit, but in a blink of an eye she was getting in her car to leave. It's so sad to see her go but thank goodness for the internet. It seems as I sit here at my computer that she is just on the other side of my screen. If I just want to say something to her I send an instant message and most times she is there to respond. After I finish one of my layouts, I send it to her and open mine up. So when she is looking at it I am looking at it with her. I know it sounds silly but it just makes me feel that she is here with me. So here we are the end of October already, before you know it we will be decorating our trees for Christmas. Can someone please slow down the clock? Time is moving much too fast and I am enjoying everything. I guess that is why I stay up so late at night, because I don't want to sleep my time away. Anyway, I have a couple of more layouts to show and here they are...

Its almost that time of year again. Time for us to buy the candy for those cute trick or treaters. It sure has changed from when I was a kid. I don't ever remember anyone putting razor blades in apples or worrying that someone may have poisoned the candy. Not that I know anyone that it has happened to, but you hear it on the news almost every year now. Sometimes I wonder if those stories are true. It is just so hard to believe. Anyway the first layout is pictures of my grandchildren that I took last year. Yep, had to go trick or treating with them just to get the pictures. The second layout is of my youngest daughter on halloween back in 1n 1996. The kit I used is Oogie Boogie Revamp by Ashalee Wall. It really has great papers and elements in it. My Sister is here!!!

I am so happy! My Sister is here for a 10 day visit. I haven't seen her in almost a year but truthfully it doesn't seem that long as we talk just about everyday on the computer. But now, for these next 10 days, I get to see her, kiss her and just hang with her. I really wish we lived closer together, but even if we did live closer, I don't think we could be any closer. I am blessed to have her as my Sister. I have a few more layouts to show. These aren't for the book I am currently working on as I need to go through pictures. This new book is really a big project. The pictures I am using are not digital so I have to find the ones I need and then scan them. I have hundreds of pictures and some are in albums and some are not and.... they are not in any kind of order. Oh well, I am doing the best I can. For now, this is what I have.

I am still behind

I am still trying to play catch-up. There just has been so much going on. For one it was my birthday on the 14th, and what a wonderful day it was. My youngest woke me up with breakfeast and a present. She made scrambled eggs with ham, cheese and tomato. Yum it really was mmm, mmm, good. She was so excited because she bought me a new digital camera and she couldn't wait to give it to me. She bought me a cannon powershot, 9 mega pixels and a 10x optical zoom. All I could say was wow, I think it was too much for her to give me as she is only 16 and works part time. Then on top of that my oldest daughter came down from upstate and I had all my children together. We all went out to dinner and had a wonderful time. Then on the 24th my youngest turned 17. She had her road test on her birthday and passed. I think I was more nervous then she was. I just was afraid that she wouldn't pass on her birthday and then she would be so upset. But I worried for nothing as she passed with flying colors. It was a really special birthday for her as besides passing her road test, my son, gave her a 96 mercury sable. It has low milage and my son took all the dents out, cleaned it up and had it painted. It looks like a brand new car. I can tell you, she is in 7th heaven. In between our birthdays we also celebrated my best friends birthday, she is a year older than me. The three birthday girls went out to dinner last Sunday as we usually do each year and as usual we had a good time. There is alot more happening, and to tell the truth, I can't believe that September is almost over. I also have to tell you that I am so excited! My Sister will be coming to visit in just 5 more days, I can't wait. She told me during the summer that she might come but then she said she wasn't. I was disappointed but I know that it really is a big trip. But then a couple of weeks ago she told me she was going to come. So since she has told me, I have been counting the days. It's not that we do anything real exciting but just to have her here is a real treat. I just wish she lived closer and we could visit together more often. Ok, so I have 2 more layouts to share. Kindergarten Jitters

In my last post I mentioned that on September 2nd my granddaughter had her first day of school. It really is amazing how time flies. I can't believe that she is 5 years old already. I just recently finished making a scrapbook of her from the time she was born up to just a little after her third birthday. I already ordered it and should be recieving it any day now. I have pictures of her every month of her life. Anyway, back to her first day of kindergarten. Kelly and I got up early to share this experience with her. I was a little surprised to see that she was nervous. She didn't cry or anything but I could just see that she was scared by the look on her face. But she put on a brave front and walked with her Mommy and Daddy into the school. I did get a few pictures and I made this layout with one of the pictures I really liked. The kit I used is Sunshine by Ashalee Wall. I really like the way this layout came out as it shows what scrapbooking is all about. That is, capturing moments and making memories to look back on.

Another Contest

Oh yeah.... I signed up for the Supreme Team Contest again. This is the 4th time I am participating. The first time I tried, I made it to the 2nd round, but the 2nd and 3rd time I didn't make it out of the 1st round. This time I am in the 2nd round right now. I will post the 2 layouts I made for the contest so you can see them. I join this contest, not because I think I will win but because it really is fun (not to mention that I get a really pretty kit for free) I really enjoy going back to my layout after I post it, to see how many people have viewed it and to read the nice comments. I also have 2 other layouts to show you. Other than that, on Tuesday Sept. 2nd it was my granddaughters first day of school. I got up early so I could go and witness this special event. Of course I brought my camera and got a few pictures. I could tell by the look on her face that she was scared. Then the next day, it was Kelly's first day of school. Actually her first day of being a senior in high school. I got up early that day also to drive her to school. I have always taken her to school on her first day. So my baby will be graduating from high school. It is so hard to believe. I finnally finished my granddaughters scrapbook and have started one for Kelly. You will see them in tonights layouts. Last week the grandkids daycare was closed so they came to my house. I wanted to show them a good time so I decide to take them to Keansburg Amusement Park on Tuesday. We got there about 11 am and they went on all the rides and had some lunch. Then about 4 pm we went across the street to the water park. The water park closed at 6 so we went back to the rides. We stayed until about 10 pm and even then they really didn't want to leave. But after about 10 minutes into our drive home they were both asleep in the back seat. I really enjoyed myself seeing them having so much fun but let me tell you I was so sore for days afterwards. As always I took my pictures which you can see in the layouts below. Kelly came with us and she went on some of the bigger rides with my older granddaughter. She also took her on the big water slides while I stayed with the little one on the toddler side. Wow can you believe it? Next weekend is Labor Day weekend, the unofficial end of summer. Its the last weekend of August. Then school starts that week. My oldest granddaughter will be starting kindergarten and my youngest daughter will be going into her senior year of high school. Oh how time goes by so quickly. Thats why its so important to take pictures. So you can capture moments and I just love digital camera's. It allows me to take picture after picture and I am sure to get at least one good one. lol. I am so glad that my granddaughter starts on the 2nd and my daughter on the 3rd. Since my daughter started school I have always taken her on the first day but I also wanted to be there when my granddaughter started on her first day. Now I can do both. So I have 2 new layouts to show. I know that the disney one is very busy but I just wanted to get all the characters she saw (well I didn't get them all). My favorite in this picture is grumpy. I was so lucky my daughter got that shot. The kit I used is Giving Love by Ashalee Wall.

Our first college visit

On Friday Kelly and I went to our first college information session at FIT (Fashion Institute of Technology). I really was very impressed and truthfully I would love it if she could make it into this college. It seems like it is everything she is looking for and boy the price is right. But it is really hard to get into. They said they get around 16,000 applications but only take about 1500. The day we went to visit, there was standing room only in the information session and there were people from china and canada there too. So we have more schools to look at and maybe we will be able to find another that fits so well. After the information session we made a day of it in the city. We didn't get out of the information session until around 2 or so and then we took the subway up to radio city music hall. We had lunch around there and then we walked to rockerfeller center. Right around rockerfeller center they had a nitendo world store which we went into just for the fun of it. We didn't get the bus going home until about 7 or so and didn't get home until 8 oclock that night. Boy I have to tell you, my back and knees were hurting for 2 days. My back is just now starting to feel better. Well, anyway I did some more scrapping as I had some pictures of my oldest granddaughters 3rd birthday to scrap to almost complete the book I am making of her baby years. So three more layouts to do and then on to my next project...

OK, Kelly has finished her drivers ed and she passed. I just have to go Thursday and get her certificate. Then we will be able to schedule her road test. She won't be 17 until the end of September but I hear that the waiting list for road test are really long. Anyway we have been looking at colleges online and hopefully we can get a few visits in before the summer is over. But there is so much going on between her art classes twice a week and her job. Plus we have an appointment to have her senior pictures taken. In between all this, I have a few layouts to show. For these two layouts, I used Sweet-Made's Clean Cut Collection (the collection starts at bottom of the page). I just love all of those beautiful mattes, especially the heart and lace border ones.

For the following layouts I used a combination of "Butterfly Garden" and a "Commercial Use Grab Bag" both by Ellen Massey of Stone Accents Studio. For the layout titled "Grandpa", I only used the Butterfly Garden Kit, and there are 2 layouts that are the same with a different picture in it. The first one I made I used a picture of Emma, but I had used that picture before in a different layout so I changed it an put a picture or should I say cut out of Danielle. I really like the first one I made better but since I had used it before I made the second one.

Learners Permit

On Tuesday Kelly took her written test for her learners permit and she passed. Its just so hard to believe, where has the time gone? She will be turning 17 within the next two months. Anyway, after leaving the DMV with learning permit in hand we went to the bank and opened a high school account for her. We got the papers she will need for direct deposit and they said she would get a debit card within 2 weeks. Well, I can't tell you how excited she is, that she is going to get a debit card. Later on that evening I said to her, "hey Kell you got your learners permit" and she said yes and a debit card! So I can't tell what she is more excited about...lol. So, do you believe that summer is half over already. It's almost August. Just one month and its back to school. Other than that, same ole, same ole, nothing exciting going on here, but I do have two more layouts to show. The kit I used for these layouts is My Summer Wedding by Sweet-Made. It really is a beautiful kit and can be used to to make any kind of layout. I am really please with the one titled pretty in pink. See for yourself...

I can't believe that I have 10 layouts to show. This is the part of being on a creative team that I don't like. That is, uploading my layouts. As I said in a previous post, I am just lazy. I just love getting all these beautiful kits. Some of them may have a specific theme but because most of them have so many different papers and elements you can use the kit any way you want. So as usual, nothing exciting going on. Mostly just the usual drama with having a 16 almost 17 year old daughter. I just hate being a nag with her. Always pushing her, looking over her shoulder and nagging, nagging, nagging. I tell you, its no fun being a mother of a teenager. I know that I have been pretty lucky with her. She is a good kid. The biggest problem is that she is soooo lazy. Oh you must be saying the nut doesn't fall far from the tree. lol. Oh I admitt, I am lazy but I make sure I do the things I have to do. Then I do the things I want to do. So other than that, we celebrated my oldest granddaughters 5th birthday. She is the one I have making this book about. I can't believe that she is 5 already. She will be starting Kindergarten this fall. I am going to try to be there on her first day so I can get some pictures. lol. I have more pictures of her then her parents do. OK, time for show and tell.

Those Hazy, Lazy, Crazy days of summer

Yep, summer is here, the days are hazy and I am lazy. LOL and if the truth be known I am crazy during every season of the year. No, all kidding aside, I really have been lazy. I have some layouts that I finished over a week ago and I haven't uploaded them yet. The first 3 layouts are for the July SAS-Y Color Challenge. You really only have to do one layout for the challenge, but because I am making these for an album, I usually do two. But then after I made the first one, I changed it. Then I really didn't know which one to choose, as I like both of them. So I am putting both of them up (same picture) and you tell me which one you like. I am leaning towards the one with the green grass. The beautiful kit I used is Artisan Garden by BooLand Design and you know what? It's free! You should really check out this challenge because the posting bonus kit is awesome. Well, its made by Boo, what do you expect. Everything she does is gorgeous. The third layout I made with this kit I named Not Happy, as that was my granddaughters not happy face and even though the pictures don't show how beautiful she was at 2 they are the pictures that memories are made of.

You see them day in and day out and you share pieces of your life with them. They are there through the good times and bad, through your joys and sorrows. They are more then just co-workers they are friends. During my time at work I met many such people. So many that I admired, so many kind, gentle and NICE people. I remember that silly rhyme we used to sing on the last day of school and school was officially over for my youngest daughter this Thursday. Next year she will be a senior. She will be taking drivers ed this summer, so you all better watch out. lol. Can you believe that half of this year is just about over. Next Friday is the 4th of July already. This is the first time in a few years that I haven't spent it with my Sister :-( ... but hopefully she will come visit me this year. It is a big trip by car, approximately a 10 hour drive but still a lot closer than she use to be. I just love spending time with her, I sure wish she was just a little bit closer so that we could see each other more often. Anyway, enough wishing and hoping, I am just glad she is closer than she used to be. I have two more layouts to show and without further ado.... I used the June Wedding Monthly Mega Kit, a collaboration kit made by the wonderful designers of Stone Accents Studio. I dug up some wedding photos to make my layouts, although the kit is versatile enough to scrap other layouts as well. The first layout is of me when I married my first husband. Although we divorced we were able to stay friends. The second layout is of my oldest daughter on the day she married my favorite son-in-law.

Friday I went to New York City for the first time since I had retired almost a year and a half ago. I really didn't want to go but they were having a luncheon for Annie, one of my former coworkers. She is retiring in August and I felt it was only right to go and wish her well. I had a very nice time at the luncheon and then went back to the office to see some other former co-workers. Actually some were more than just co-workers, they are friends. I got lots of hugs and kisses and was told how much I have been missed. Everyone oohed and aahed and said how relaxed I looked. So it was very nice seeing them and I am glad I went. I have a few more layouts to show, these are for the baby book I am making of my first Granddaughter.

Seen any good movies lately?

I am normally not a movie goer, I think the money they want to see a movie now a days is ridiculous. $10.75, for a movie, can you believe it? Forget it if you want some popcorn and a drink. But anyway, I did go to the movies, I saw Sex in the City and a few days later I saw The Happening. Sex in the City was ok, that is if you watched the series. It sort of brought a happy ending to the series. The happening was a disappointment, the movie wasn't that bad, it was just the story behind it that was stupid. Anyway, it was a change of pace and I got to spend some time with old friends. So, I have some new layouts to show. The first one "Sisters" are my two daughters. The pictures were taken over memorial day weekend when my youngest (16) went to visit my oldest (38). I really like the way this one turned out. The second one is my daughter Kelly with her best friend. They told me that they were going to go to "the hippy shop" in Jersey. I thought that they were calling it that as it had hippy like clothing in it. But that is the actual name of the shop. It had lots of 60 style clothing and odds and ends in it. Lots and lots of tye-dye stuff. And of couse my daughter takes right after me and took plenty of pictures. The last two layouts I made for my daughter. Her father passed away when she was only 11 years old.

Hello! Anybody there?

Sometimes I wonder if I am just wasting my time writing something here. I don't think anyone (except for my Sister) ever comes to my blog and reads what I have to say. Not that I have anything interesting or exciting to write about. My life is just hum drum, except for the drama I get from my 16 year old. But actually, that is just the way I like it. I have had my share of excitement and now I just like the peace and quite. I love getting up when I want to without the rude alarm clock waking me. Then I do what I want, when I want to. Isn't life grand. I spend much too much time on the computer, but it is what I enjoy doing the most. And speaking of thing I enjoy doing, here are 2 more layouts. These were a little hard for me as I got this sports kit to work with but I didn't have any sport pictures. So I had to steal a picture from my girlfriend, it is a picture of her grandson who just turned 5. The other picture is of my Son when he was just a baby. Oh I almost forgot, my layout Kandid (seen in my last post) was choosen to be put in "todays garden tour" in The Scrapping Garden. It isn't the first time one of my layout was choosen but it is always nice to be recognized.

Heat Wave

Oh yeah, we're having a heat wave. Two days in the 90's and the weatherman says it may hit 100 tomorrow. Whew, thank goodness for air conditioning. I am not complaining, I am just grateful that I don't have to go to work in it anymore. Nothing much going on here right now, but its plenty busy for Kelly. She took her SAT's Saturday and will take her ACT next weekend. Then starting the week after she will take her finals and her regents. I signed her up for drivers ed. so watch out world. If everything goes well she will start on June 30th. Other than that, I am enjoying scrapbooking. Jen is my daughters best friend and I must add she has really shown herself to be a true friend. I really like the layout I made of her, I think it came out nice.

I know I am somewhat inexperienced when it comes to the computer and may not be a computer wiz, but the weirdest things happen to me. I swear my computer has a mind of its own. Either that or it is haunted. Or maybe it is just telling me to get a new computer. Many, many thing have happened with this old computer but the lastest bout has been with this blog. I only started this blog less than one month ago and my first post went just as it should have. I was so excited, I got 15 comments (of course it was my sisters doing, but still 15 comments wow). Then I put up my second post. Of course I had to go back and see if I got any comments and of course I didn't. But I kept on coming back and I noticed that there was nothing there that said comments. So next time I saw my sister online I asked her to go and see what she could see. She said oh, you have no place to put your comments, what did you do? Well I didn't do anything. So anyway she showed me how to fix it and I did and of couse she said well you had to change your settings. (which of course I didn't). Then in my last post when I was adding the credits to my pictures, the first few went fine. Then all of a sudden it started to double space and there was nothing that I changed, nothing that I did. Then today I came here to put up another post and my counter is gone! I have no clue. Where did it go? Why me?
Anyway, I got a few more layouts to show.

So that is my story and I am sticking to it. I didn't change anything!!! I had alot of fun working with this kit. Such pretty elements. Oh and I did recolor the 2 floral corners at the top of the second layout to match the papers I used.

Memorial Day Weekend

Can you believe it? Summer is coming. Not too much going on here. My youngest daughter left Friday night to visit with my oldest daughter. My son in law came to pick her up and will bring her back home on Monday. They live upstate which is about 2 1/2 to 3 hours away. So I have the weekend to myself. Well, not really. Sunday I am going to pick up my granddaughters and bring them to a BBQ. I am sure they will have a ball, I am charging my camera right now. lol. I did some more layouts and got some idea's from my sister. I am now putting the names and credits under each layout, like my sister does. And, if you just so happen to also visit my sisters blog you will notice that I got the idea for my hats layout from one of her layouts.

Busy Busy!

Oh yes, thats me, busy, busy. I have two new layouts to show you. I really really like the first one. The kit I used for these two layouts is Little Miss Retro by Ashalee Wall and Sweet Made. I know that all my layouts lately have been of my oldest granddaughter, but thats because I am trying to put together a book of her from the time she was born. I am up to 19 months old.

So tonight we find out who the American Idol will be. It's betweet David A. and David C. They are both great, but after last nights performance I think David A. will be the American Idol. I just love this show. I have watched it every season. Oh and my Sister has made it to the next round in the Supreem team contest at Go Digital Scrapbooking. I am just so proud of her. Some new layouts and more news

I have a few more layouts to show. These first two layouts I made from the May Mega kit by the Stone Accents Studio designers. I don't have a link to the kit yet, but when I do I will update this post. The pictures I used were taken on Mothers day. I like the second layout better than the first but I think that is because I don't much like pictures of myself. Truthfully I never did like to have my picture taken. I always thought that any picture taken of me came out awful. But then when I look back on those pictures, I think they look great. lol, and now that I am older, I realize that these pictures, someday, will be memories for my children and their children.

For these next two layouts, I used the freebie kits Cuddly ducky and Bubble bath kit by Kristin Aagard. I got them from her blog about 2 weeks ago. Saying that, I must comment on all the wonderful, talented, generous ladies out there that just give away their beautiful kits. Thank you so much. I started making a book of my oldest granddaughter who will be 5 in July. I am making the layouts in chronological order. For these 2 layouts she is 1 1/2 years old.

Now for my news. Well, my Sister did it again. What did she do now? you ask. Well, on May 9th while we were talking over the internet, she said "did you notice on sweetmade's blog, that Ashalee and Sweet.com is having a creative team call?" I told her that no I hadn't been to Sweetmade's blog that day. She told me I should apply. Well to make a long story short, I applied and on Friday, I got an email back telling me that I was choosen. What a thrill. I can't believe it. So pretty soon you will be seeing layouts made with their kits. I can't wait.

Hello world, here I am, bringing you some good news and some bad news. Well the bad news is that I didn't make it to the next round in the Supreme team contest. But really, that's ok. I just do it for the fun of it. There were some really awesome layouts. The only thing that I was a little disappointed about was that no one commented on how I cut out the word dream from a piece of paper and used both the cut out word and the paper I cut it out from. I saw that technique a while ago and thought it was so cool. So I tried to do it myself and I was able to. My first try and I thought it looked so neat, but no one noticed. Oh well. The good news is that my Sis Patchas made it to the next round. She is just so good. I love everything she does.

Well, I said I have something new to view and I do. I got a new kit from Stone Accents Studio and I made 2 layouts with it. The kit is Midnight Silhouette by Cathy C. She is one of the new designers at SAS. I really loved this kit. As soon as I saw it, I knew I had the perfect picture for it. I had fun working with the kit and I just love how my second layout came out. (Well actually it was the one I made first but is listed here second). All the pictures are of my oldest grandaughter and were taken last year, the day after her 4th birthday. She is a real girly girl. Her favorite color is pink and she whines if she doesn't have something pink to wear. And she just adores cinderella. I think she must have every single cinderella thing that was ever made. Even her bedroom is cinderella decorated. She has a cinderella border around the room with a giant cinderella castle on one wall. So when I saw these cinderella things for her I was thrilled.

Wow, did you see all those comments I got on my first post? I just couldn't believe it. Well... I know... It was all my Sisters doing. lol. She is just so sweet, the best Sister anyone could every hope for. She is my inspiration. I could go on and on about the beautiful layouts she creates but why don't you go to her blog, Scraps of Sunshine, and see for yourself? While your there, she has a couple of freebie quickpages you can snag. If you haven't already been to her blog make sure you go to her older posts as she has more freebies.

Now on to the contest I mentioned. Go Digital Scrapbooking (GDS) is having their 5th Supreme Team contest. I think this is the 3rd time I have entered it. The first time I made it to the 2nd round and last time I wasn't picked at all. The way they work it is they give you a kit to work with, and you have one week to make a layout and post it in their supreem team gallery. The judges then decide who goes on to the next round. The kit they provided for the first round is Spring Bling by Christy Skaggs. This is my layout

My first blog, my first post

Hello world! My name is Elaine and this is my first blog. Why you ask? Well its all my Sister's doing. She made me do it all. She was the one who came to visit (I don't remember how many years ago but it has to be close to 20) and pushed me to get my first computer. She is the one who held my hand while I learned to navigate within the computer and spent countless hours on the phone with me when I was afraid to push the enter button when I got an error message. She talked me into getting internet access when I thought that I didn't need it. She then intoduced me to the wonderful world of digital scrapbooking and even bought me my first scrapbooking program (fotofusion). Well, what has she done now? She talked me into joining a creative team. So now I am a Sassy girl, that is, I am now on the creative team for Stone Accent Studio. So this is the reason for my blog, that is, so I can showcase my layouts for the world to see.
I hope if you found me and actually read this far, you say hello. These are my first layouts made as a Sassy girl, I hope you like them. I used the April Mega Kit "April Showers". The kit has such beautiful papers and awesome elements, and is currently on sale so take a look for yourself.
